While I don’t intentionally write a chapter for a specific word count, I prefer chapters around 3k to 5k in length. I feel like with modern reading habits, this is a suitable length to give you a full reading experience on the run. My chapters are all like serial TV drama. Each episode gives you a full story, advances the over-all story and excites you. That might mean something major happens, a deep heart felt moment or, a favorite of mine, a cliffhanger. If you have more time, you can invest in more chapters, but if life is hectic, you can escape from the moments that are available.
